Achilles – The Road Less Travelled

(Message 3) Pride is the “Achilles heel” for most, if not all of us. However, God opposes the proud and only exalts the humble. Most of us travel the self-serving road of pride and miss God’s favor and honor down the road of humility. In this final message, “Achilles – The Road Less Travelled”, we will look at the favor of God when we choose humility. #GCAchilles

Pride is the “Achilles heel” for most, if not all of us.

God exalts the humble, but humility is an
 act of faith.

Habakkuk 2:4 is quoted:

  • Romans 1:17
  • Galatians 3:11
  • Hebrews 10:38

Trust God with:

  • Your money (Matt 6:19, 1 Timothy 6:17)
  • Your career (Colossians 3:23-24)
  • Your marriage (Ephesians 5:21-33)
  • Your kids (Deut 6:6-7, Eph 6:4, Isa 54:13)
  • Your health (Luke 12:25)
  • Your future (Romans 8:28)

Why is humility an act of faith?

  • “If I don’t puff myself up,
who will see me?” (Jeremiah 12:3a)
  • “If I don’t brag about my accomplishments, how will I get credit?” (Matthew 6:4)
  • “If I don’t exalt myself, who will?” (Luke 14:11b,

How can I be humble? (Our Convictions):

  • Make Jesus your Savior
    • John 15:5
  • Pursue Jesus relentlessly
    • Daily prayer and worship
    • Read your Bible
    • Do what it says (Luke 11:28, James 1:22)
  • Follow Philippians 2:3-5
  • Get accountability

Promises to the Humble:

  • God Himself will exalt us
  • We get His favor and blessings
    • Nothing can stop God’s work
    • The “prosperity gospel” is not biblical
  • We will become wise
    • Wisdom is an invaluable commodity
    • To expand God’s kingdom (Col 4:5-6)
