It Doesn’t Matter What You Believe

Undoubtedly you’ve heard it said that it doesn’t matter what you believe as long as you’re sincere. But what if you’re sincerely wrong?

It’s not about religion – it’s about Jesus.

Three Critical Aspects About Jesus:

  1. Consider who He claimed to be
  2. Consider what He did
  3. Consider what He left out

God doesn’t love you because of what you do.
God loves you because of who HE is.

TEXT: John 14:6; John 10:30; Mark 14:62; Mark 2:16-17; Ephesians 2:8-9

  1. Have you ever heard the phrase, “All religions lead to the same god?”
    • What do you think about that?
    • Why can’t that be true?
  2. Many believe that being good is all they need to do to earn a trip to heaven.  Why is that faulty logic?
  3. Read John 14:6.  Jesus says emphatically that He is the only way to God.  Why do so many people find a statement like this offensive?
  4. If all religions don’t lead to God, then how should we approach other world religions and belief systems that teach that they are the true way?
  5. There are many compelling reasons to believe in Jesus alone: Who He claimed to be, what He did, and what He left out. Discuss how each one of those is so important.
  6. Why is a relationship with Jesus better than just practicing religion?  Read and discuss Ephesians 2:8-9.
  7. What are some opportunities you’ve had to dispel the myth that it doesn’t matter what you believe about God as long as you’re sincere?
    • Have you missed out on any of these opportunities?  Why?
    • Discuss some ways you could have responded.
    • Read 1 Peter 3:15.  Encourage each other to make the most of each opportunity and to recognize them as they come up.
