God Will Never Give You More Than You Can Handle 29 May 16

Have you ever had more than you can handle? Most of us have. But wait, didn’t God say He would never do that? Nope.

Why would God give me more than I can handle?

  • God wants me to depend on Him

 

When God gives me more than I can handle:

  1. Let it out.
  2. Wait for the Lord.

TEXT: 1 Corinthians 10:13; Psalms 38; Job 6:1-10; 2 Corinthians 12:7-10; Psalms 27:13-14

  1. Have you ever made the statement or believed the statement, “God will never give you more than you can handle.”  Why is this a dangerous statement?
  2. Read 1 Corinthians 10:13.  What is the difference between temptations and difficult circumstances?
    • How does this passage address the difference?
    • Share with the group a time where you clearly saw God provide “a way out” of a sinful situation.
  1. Read Psalms 38 and Job 6:1-10.  Would you characterize these men as having more than they can handle?
    • What did they do when they felt overwhelmed?
    • Share a time when you felt overwhelmed with a difficult circumstance.
  1. Troy said that God gives us more than we can handle so that we will depend on Him.
    • Do you agree?
    • Why does God want us to depend on Him?  (Read 2 Corinthians 12:7-10 for a possible clue.)
  1. Many people escape to the fantasy world of alcohol or food addiction when trouble comes.  What is a better path?
    • Discuss the 3 things Troy said we should do when we feel overwhelmed.
    • Read Psalms 27:13-14.  What does it look like in your life to wait on the Lord?
    • Discuss other godly ways to react to difficult circumstances and how your group can support one another.
