Good People Go To Heaven 26 Jun 16

Many people believe if your good works outweigh your bad works you will get into Heaven. You might be interested to know that God never said that.

It’s not about us, it’s all about Him, and what He did for us, not what we do for Him!

We are God’s Workmanship, but our lives have been marred by sin and failure:

  1. We were dead. Eph. 2:1
  2. We were disobedient. Eph. 2:2
  3. We were depraved. Eph. 2:3
  4. We were doomed. Eph. 2:12

We were destined to become the very special expression of God’s creative power:

  1. We were dead but He made us alive. Eph. 2:4-9
  2. We were demonized, but He gave us His Holy Spirit. Eph. 2:17,18
  3. We were lost but He has given us new life. 2 Cor. 5:17-21

We are not accepted by God because of good works but for good works:

  1. Notice God’s work in us. Eph. 2:10
  2. Notice God’s work through us. Eph. 2:10

TEXT: Ephesians 2:1-10; Ephesians 2:17-18; 2 Corinthians 5:17-21

  1. “Though there are some people who are bad and need punishment, most people are generally good and entitled to Heaven.”    Have you ever said/thought that or known someone who has?
    • Discuss how you or they may have come to that conclusion.
    • From a biblical perspective, do you believe we are “generally good”?
  1. Read Ephesians 2:1-3 and Ephesians 2:12.  What effect does sin have on our relationship with a holy God?
  2. Read Ephesians 2:4-9.  What actions has God taken to restore the relationship?
  3. Read Ephesians 2:10.  What part do good works play in our relationship with God?
    • What does that look like in our daily life?
    • What part does it play in our relationships with the people in our lives?
  1. If there is someone you cared about who does not understand the Grace of God but believes their good works will get them to Heaven, how would you discuss this subject with them?
