Pray First

Prayer is most powerful as a lifestyle, not an occasional act. At Generations, prayer is our first response, not our last resort.

What Is Prayer?

Surrendering to Jesus begins our relationship with God, studying His Word (the Bible) reveals His truth, but humble prayer deepens our intimacy with Him. Jesus taught His disciples to pray in Matthew 6:9-13 and Luke 11:2-4. A helpful guide is the acronym P.R.A.Y. – easy to remember and use!

PRAISE: Begin by praising God for who He is and thank Him for all He's done.

REPENT: Confess your sins to God (anything displeasing to Him), seek God’s forgiveness through Jesus, and turn away from your sin.

ASK: Ask God to bless and provide. You can ask for things for yourself, others, or anything on your heart.

YIELD: Say “yes” to God. Pray for strength to resist temptation and seek His Spirit’s guidance, then obey.
